True Beauty arrives on Netflix this Monday, December 11 on the platform. Worn by Moon Ga-young, the Korean series revolves around the question of appearances.
Three years following its broadcast on the South Korean television channel tvN, True Beauty finally arrives in France. Starting this Monday, December 11, Netflix subscribers will be able to discover the 16 episodes, of approximately 70 minutes each, of the first season. Inspired by the webtoon of the same name, imagined by Yaongyi, the k-drama tells the story of a high school girl who decides to transform herself physically using makeup.
The vicious cycle of appearance
Lim Ju-Kyung is the victim of school bullying. At the heart of the bullying are derogatory remarks regarding one’s physical appearance. Following a move leading to a change of high school, the young woman decides to use makeup to transform herself. As soon as she arrives, she becomes the center of everyone’s attention and quickly earns the nickname “goddess”.
Despite this new favorable environment, Lim Ju-Kyung was unable to get used to this dazzling popularity. Continuing to have very little self-esteem, she fears that her classmates will discover what her natural face looks like, without any makeup, and will not accept her for what she truly is. A vicious circle then sets in little by little and causes him numerous torments.
