Despite different professional fields and study programs, there is often a lack of sufficient and targeted information. SU promotes career orientation with the Maturant:innen Guide 2024
Vienna (OTS) – In Austria, tens of thousands of students are currently completing the final year of their education at higher educational institutions, which ends with the Matura. However, this key phase of the educational career leads many graduates to a fundamental question: ‘Matura, and then?’. The Maturant:innen Guide supports employers and educational institutions in presenting themselves to the next generation in a way that is appropriate to their target group and thus promotes career orientation among prospective high school graduates.
“For high school graduates, a new phase of life begins following graduation. With the
Maturant:innen-Guide will provide you with the best possible support during this important phase of your life. The school provides excellent preparation for the Matura, but not for life followingward. It must be explained in class regarding what options they have following school. As a student union, this has been a major concern for us for years,” says Charlotte Stütz, federal chairwoman of the student union.
In order to close the information gap regarding career opportunities following school, the introduction of comprehensive career orientation measures in schools is crucial. However, this does not fail because of the wealth of offerings, but rather because of the information being passed on to the students. In addition to the main topic of public service, the 2024 Matura Student Guide focuses particularly on post-baccalaureate apprenticeships or dual training as well as digital and green jobs. The graduate guide contains targeted information and provides support in this crucial phase.
“The Maturant:innen Guide offers prospective high school graduates a great opportunity to actively think regarding their future. It is essential that we finally implement reforms in our schools to improve career orientation. As federal school spokesman, I continue to advocate for more study and career orientation in our classes,” said federal school spokesman Marius Hladik.
With over 30,000 members, the student union is the largest student organization in Austria in which the members volunteer. Thanks to its wide range of services, such as the school legal emergency hotline and various further training courses, it is considered an important contact point for students. In addition, she brings her demands to the Federal Student Representative Council (BSV), in which she holds 27 of 29 mandates in the 2023/24 school year. The acting federal school spokesman, Marius Hladik, also comes from the student union.
