After a violent fall in oil prices on Wednesday, bringing them to their lowest level in five months, followed by a stabilization the next day, the oil market started to rise once more on Friday.
Around 08:45 GMT (09:45 Belgian time), the price of a barrel of American oil West Texas Intermediate (WTI), for delivery in January, rose 2.29% to 70.94 euros, returning above the symbolic bar of 70 euros .
That of a barrel of Brent from the North Sea, for delivery in February, gained 2.34% to 75.78 euros.
“Prices rose on Friday following calls for intervention from Russia and Saudi Arabia for OPEC+ members to adhere to agreed production cuts,” explains Stephen Innes.
