It seems that 1440p gaming monitors are on their way out, at least if we take into account information from Valve’s November hardware survey. The report states that most gamers prefer a 1080p screen as their primary monitor, while multi-monitor gamers tend to have a combination of 4K and 1080p screens. Information points out that 1080p screens account for 60% of all settings, while 4K-1080p multi-monitor settings also account for regarding 60% of settings. This puts 1440p screens operating in the 40% range, and they also compete with other monitor sizes, meaning the actual usage of 1440p screens is undoubtedly well below the fixed 40% usage. The survey also revealed that the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 is the most commonly used GPU, with most people having around 100 GB to 249 GB of available hard drive space, while the Meta Quest 2 is the most popular VR headset.
