According to the Metropolitan Police, around 40,000 people took part on Saturday. By late followingnoon there had been 13 arrests, the police said on the short message service X (formerly Twitter). The reason for this was offensive posters or drug possession.
A man was arrested because a poster compared Israel to Germany under National Socialism. Previously, despite the devastating situation of civilians in the Gaza Strip, a draft resolution for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire failed in the UN Security Council. The USA, as Israel’s ally, vetoed the draft on Friday. Great Britain abstained.
Scotland’s Prime Minister Humza Yousaf criticized the British government for this on X: “How can you choose to be complicit in the killing of thousands of children?”
