MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s basketball team continues its five-game homestand on Sunday, Dec. 10, as the Mountaineers welcome Delaware State to Morgantown.
Tipoff once morest the Hornets is set for 2 p.m. ET, inside the WVU Coliseum, with gates opening at 1 p.m. Saturday’s contest once morest DSU will be broadcast live on the Mountaineer Sports Network, including 100.9 WSZT-FM, with Andrew Caridi and John Antonik on the call.

Tickets for Saturday’s contest can be purchased at WVUGAME.com or by visiting the Mountaineer Ticket Office, located inside the Gold Gate of the WVU Coliseum. Additionally, the contest will serve as the second part of the 50th Anniversary of WVU women’s basketball honoring the classes ’90 to ’14 and all their accomplishments. Fans in attendance will receive a 50th Anniversary Commemorative giveaway.
West Virginia (8-0) and Delaware State (2-6) meet for the seventh time on Sunday. WVU holds a 5-1 all-time advantage over DSU, with the latest meeting between the two teams coming on Dec. 2, 2022. The Mountaineers defeated the Hornets 63-47 in Morgantown.
The Hornets’ lone win over the Mountaineers came on Dec. 14, 2003, at Memorial Hall in Dover, Delaware, by a score of 59-56. Since then, West Virginia has won its last four matchups once morest Delaware State.
The Hornets enter Sunday’s contest following a 108-39 win over Wilmington on Dec. 6, in Wilmington, Delaware. The win over the Wildcats marked the second win in a row for Delaware State following falling in its opening four contests of the season.
DSU’s second win of the season came over Long Island, an 84-59 result on Dec. 4.
Delaware State’s scoring efforts have been led by Savannah Brooks, who is averaging 11.8 points per game. McKenzie Stewart leads DSU on the boards and has hauled in 7.6 rebounds per game this season.
The Hornets are led by interim head coach Jazmone Turner.
Last time out, the Mountaineers knocked off No. 25 Penn State, 83-65, on Dec. 4, at the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown. Five Mountaineers finished the contest in double figures, led by junior guard JJ Quinerly who finished with 22 points.
Quinerly (17.6), sophomore guard Jordan Harrison (13.1) and fifth-year senior guard Lauren Fields (12.1) pace WVU’s offensive effort as the trio average double-digit scoring per game. The trio all average over 2.6 steals per contest, serving as the only NCAA team in the country with three players averaging double figures and over 2.6 steals.
Redshirt junior guard Kyah Watson is pacing WVU in rebounding, with 5.8 boards per game.
West Virginia’s is averaging 14.5 steals per contest this season which is the second-best mark in the nation. WVU’s 25.6-point win margin this season is the 14th best mark in the nation.
The Mountaineers add top-20 rankings in scoring defense (52.2), turnover margin (9.6) and turnovers forced per game (25.1).
