It is known that behind every song there is a story, either real or imaginary, and who among us does not search for the story behind some songs that affect the listeners, so what if the singer of these songs made them cry while singing them on stage.
Our ambassador to the stars, Mrs. Fairouz, had tears flowing on stage when she sang the song “The People Asked Me” in 1986.
“People asked me regarding you, my love. They wrote letters, and the air took them away. My song is dear to me, my love, and for the first time you are not together.” This wonderful song had an impact on Mrs. Fairouz’s heart, and behind it lies a sad story.
This song dates back to 1972, when Fayrouz and the Rahbani brothers were preparing for their new musical play “The Station,” and at that time her husband, the late author and composer Assi Rahbani, suffered a brain hemorrhage, which led to him being hospitalized and receiving long treatment.
His brother, Mansour Rahbani, wrote the lyrics of the song “The People Asked Me,” which was composed by the artist Ziad Rahbani, to express Fairouz’s sadness at the absence of her life partner, and her feelings, as she had to take the stage and sing for the first time in the absence of her lover, following she had become accustomed to being with him. Always by her side, and that’s when Fairouz sang for the first time, composed by her son Ziad Rahbani.
After Assi Rahbani died, Fairouz stood on stage 14 years following the release of the song “The People Asked Me,” and the moment of singing this song came, and when Fairouz reached the end of the first clip, “For the First Time There Are No One of You,” she burst into tears while she was on stage.
