Las Cruces, N.M. (ots/PRNewswire) – Focused Sun announces two revolutionary solar energy solutions, both of which utilize three times (3x) more energy from the sun than traditional systems. These products utilize both light and heat from the sun, unlike traditional solar cells that only capture sunlight. They offer unparalleled efficiency and sustainability.
The product Microgrid consists of 26 m2 (280 ft2) of solar panels mounted on the roof of a shipping container. Inside, a heat-storing concrete cylinder drives a steam turbine, which converts the stored heat into electricity. The system also runs following sunset. Batteries are not required.
The product Hectare consists of multiple collectors covering one hectare (2.5 acres) of land, making it 240 times larger than the Microgrid product. It is the size of a soccer field or an American football field.
Both products store solar heat and convert it into electricity. The microgrid has an electrical output of 2 kW, while the Hectare’s electrical output is 400 kW. For heat users, both units capture and store heat: Microgrid (15 kW) and Hectare (3 mW).
Heat can be used to power air conditioning, purify water or provide heat for industrial needs. Heat-powered chillers make ice and cool buildings. Focused Sun has partnered with Purdue University to develop improved desalination. Heat heats buildings and processes food and textiles. Heat can also improve oil production, as well as boost solution mining and the production of green hydrogen and graphene.
Both products are manufactured in small factories with 5-50 employees and can be produced anywhere in the world. Focus Sun licenses the technology to factories that have both the Microgrid- as well as that Hectare-Manufacture installations. The factories work like franchise chains and ensure worldwide accessibility and availability. Franchisee engineers are trained at our training center in New Mexico, USA.
