On November 10, 15 and 22, trade unions walked off the job to obtain better working conditions. In a context of “salary freezes and difficult-to-pay bills”, they asked for a bonus in purchasing power. Actions were notably organized in several large warehouses of the Colruyt company, and leaflets were distributed to workers, slowing down the traffic of goods trucks.

These slowdowns were considered unacceptable by Colruyt management, who sent bailiffs to the site to request the lifting of the pickets and impose fines on trade unionists who refused to comply.
The CSC Alimentation et Services and the FGTB Horval then challenged in court the order which authorized the sending of bailiffs to break the picket line. The Brussels court finally ruled on November 30, agreeing with them.

“The unions simply used their right to strike and the right to inform their colleagues,” underlines the national spokesperson for the CSC Food and Services, Steve Rossel. “Ten years ago, we wouldn’t have seen a bailiff. We are facing a judicialization of social conflicts and that is a problem. »
“For the future, we ask the government to legislate to prohibit the use of unilateral requests in the context of social conflicts,” he concludes.
