On Tuesday at 8:20 a.m. the police were called because an asylum seeker was rioting in an asylum center in Linz.

When the police officers arrived, the man, a 31-year-old Libyan, hit a police officer in the face with his fist. While attempting to arrest the man, he lashed out several times, injuring another police officer. After the arrest, the Libyan was taken to the Linz police detention center. The accused also behaved extremely aggressively and hit himself several times with his head and feet. Because of this behavior, an interrogation was not possible for the time being.

The 31-year-old was transferred to the Linz prison by order of the Linz public prosecutor. The injured police officers remained fit for duty.
