Vintage items that belonged to Steve Jobs continue to fascinate many collectors. The proof with this new check put up for auction.
A rare new item in Apple history is currently in the auction spotlight, sparking excitement among technology enthusiasts and collectors. It is a check signed by Steve Jobs for a modest value of $4.01. However, its auction estimate reached a significant $25,000. And it’s even surpassing them.
This check, dated July 23, 1976, offers a fascinating insight into the beginnings of Apple. Named to pay for RadioShack, a chain of electronics stores, it also bears Apple’s first official address in Palo Alto. This innocuous detail takes on special significance because of RadioShack’s connection to Apple co-founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak.
The beginning of the “Blue Box”
According to the American auction house RR Auction, RadioShack played a crucial role in Apple’s history, especially for Steve Wozniak. Wozniak, a teenager with a passion for electronics, assiduously frequented the aisles of RadioShack, where he saved up to purchase the pioneering TRS-80 microcomputer system. This system led to the creation of the famous “blue box” by Steve Wozniak. As a reminder, this device is the basis of the first commercial partnership between Wozniak and Jobs.
The check, currently at a bid of $30,250, offers a unique opportunity to own a palpable piece of Apple history. Bidding will end on December 7. Enough to pique the interest of enthusiasts and collectors from around the world for a few more days.
