A Hey decided to close the operations of its own streaming application, the Oi Play. According to information from the portal Tele.Synthesis, the operator confirmed the action, which took place due to its transformation plan. Therefore, the measure taken is part of other initiatives that aim to cut expenses.

In a press release, she spoke regarding the news:

As part of its transformation plan, Oi has been taking measures to increase operational efficiency

According to the company itself, the platform will officially go offline following the day December 31th this year. Therefore, users who still use the service will only have until that date to continue watching the available content. As the platform was free, there will be no compensation for people.

Another important detail is that this attitude does not impact the offer of other streaming services to Oi’s broadband customers. Likewise, it remains in the pay TV market, as it offers Oi TV HD, which depends on a satellite decoder, IPTV or DTH antenna. According to the operator, its new operating model aims to expand fiber optics:

In this sense, it began a process of deactivating some products, such as the Oi Play streaming service, in accordance with the market trend towards disintermediation of content distribution. In addition to adapting the company’s structure to its strategic model, the measure might also represent a gain in value for the company by bringing more efficiency to the operation
