Affin Bank Berhad announced the appointment of Encik Mohammad Fairuz Bin Mohd Radi (Fairuz) as Executive Director, Group Community Banking of AFFIN BANK, effective December 1, 2023. Fairuz brings nearly 20 years of experience in multiple sectors, including banking, real estate development and consulting. He has held strategic roles including Head of Strategy for Community Financial Services and Wholesale Banking, Director of Strategy and Director of Transactional Banking.
His contributions have been integral to the transformation and expansion of the retail loan and deposit portfolio through a comprehensive sales distribution network. Additionally, he played a key role in establishing and expanding Transaction Banking’s regional operations across 17 countries, overseeing areas such as deposits, cash management, trade finance, supply chain procurement, banking correspondence with financial institutions and security services. Beyond his professional duties, Fairuz served as co-chair of the Sustainable Development Working Group of the Council of Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (CIBAFI).
He also served as a representative of the Global Alliance of Banking Values (GABV), a group comprising more than 60 banks, credit unions and microfinance institutions from 44 countries. In his new role at AFFIN BANK, Fairuz will be responsible for the direction, strategy, financial management and profitability of Community Banking activities. This includes driving the overall go-to-market strategy, overseeing relationship management and business development for new and existing community bank customers.
Mr. Fairuz holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Broadband Communications Technologies from University College London (UK) and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University (United States of America).
