After five months, in 59 municipalities, canine and feline sterilizations reached 5,534.
Tunja, December 4, 2023. (UACP). The Secretary of Environment and Sustainable Development of Boyacá, Karen Lucia Molano Granados, referred to the inter-administrative agreement with the UPTC, to support municipalities on responsible ownership and birth control of dogs and cats, regarding the sterilization sessions that were carried out. in 59 municipalities of all the provinces of the department.
“In the municipality of Monguí we successfully closed our animal welfare sessions. We carried out 5,534 sterilizations, reaching all the provinces of this beautiful Department with 61 days in 59 municipalities. We support the work that mayors have to carry out in the birth control of dogs and cats. We are very happy because this way we reach street animals, that population that does not have caregivers and that need to be spayed or neutered. We also managed to raise awareness through 76 talks on responsible ownership among the people of Boyacá; all this to achieve a more compassionate and responsible society with our pets,” said Molano.
Likewise, the Official referred to the work of coordination with organizations, foundations and rescuers in the territory: “we are happy that the people who have carried out this work for so many years, and which the State should carry out, have benefited from this program. free mass sterilizations. This would not have been possible without the inter-administrative coordination between the Government of Boyacá and the UPTC, entities that provided the medical capacity to carry out the agreement. We thank the municipal administrations who contributed to the logistics of this great agreement to sterilize many animals and help save more lives,” said the Secretary.
