From December 6 to 8, the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) will hold the 3rd International Mental Health Congress “Cash cut and future”, in which more than 50 opinion leaders and national experts will participate virtually. and international.

Speakers from Great Britain, the United States, Spain, the Netherlands, Iceland, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Peru, Portugal and Mexico will participate in the event, including Dr. Mark Van Ommeren, Head of the WHO Mental Health Unit; Prof. Sir. Graham Thornicroft, recognized for his work on strategies to combat stigma and discrimination in Mental Health; Dr. Ricardo Araya from the Center for Global Mental Health at King’s College London.

Likewise, Dr. Renato Oliveira e Souza, head of the Mental Health and Substance Use Unit at PAHO/WHO Washington, and Dr. Estela Altalef, president of the American Commission on Older Adults in Argentina and promoter of human rights, will also present. of older people and healthy aging, among other specialists.

Among the topics to be addressed are: Challenges, strategies and opportunities to transform mental health for all; Advances in mental health and addictions in Mexico; A new agenda for mental health in the Americas; Report of the High Level Commission on Mental Health and COVID-19 of the Pan American Health Organization; Multisector collaboration and social determinants of mental health problems in Mexico and Evaluation of public policies on mental health and addictions in the Region and Mexico.

Additionally: Strategies to fight stigma and discrimination; Prevention and promotion of mental health in the workplace; and Interinstitutional Command of the Health Sector: Challenges in Mental Health and Addictions.
