In addition to connecting via the cellular network, another way to connect to the internet on your iPhone is through a Wi-Fi networks — whether residential, at your workplace or public.
As it depends on several factors, its functionality can be affected by weather or technical conditions, for example.
If you are experiencing issues related to a intermittent connection of the Wi-Fi network on your iPhone (that is, it connects but then disconnects), some tips can help resolve this.
Check out! ????
- For some time now, Apple has offered the “Wi-Fi Assist” feature, which uses cellular data when the Wi-Fi network is weak. Try deactivating it by going to Settings » Cell phone and uncheck “Wi-Fi Assistance” at the bottom of the screen.
- Check that there is no problem with your modem, if it is at home. If necessary, restart it.
- Try connecting different devices to the same Wi-Fi network and see if the problem persists.
- Try disabling the “Limit IP Address Tracking” feature within the settings of the Wi-Fi network you are connected to, to see if this makes any difference in performance.
- Make iPhone forget the network and connect once more. To do this, open Settings, tap “Wi-Fi”, then the “i” next to the connected network and go to “Forget This Network”. Then connect to it once more.
- Make sure your iPhone is updated to the latest stable version of iOS — if it’s running a beta, try installing the latest public version available.
- Restart your iPhone and try to see if the problem is resolved.
What if none of this works?
If you are still having problems with the Wi-Fi signal on your iPhone, the next step is to contact Apple so they can determine whether it is caused by a more serious hardware failure. To do this, use the telephone number 0800-761-0880, the Support website or app.
If you prefer, you can also schedule an appointment at one of two Apple Stores located in Brazil or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
