Espert: “JxC is not going to turn around Milei for not having elected Ritondo in the Deputies”

The national deputy of Avanza Libertad José Luis Espert assured that Together for Change “it will not be turned around” to the president-elect, Javier Mileydue to the fact that there Cristian Ritondo dismissed as the next head of the Chamber of Deputies.

Furthermore, he appreciated that for that position the leader of La Libertad Avanza has chosen Martin Menemwhom he described as “a proven and suitable person” and “a good person.”

However, it raised some concerns that have to do with the weakness of Milei’s origins when it comes to achieving consensus in Congress, given that it will only have 38 national deputies and seven national senators.

The libertarian’s small table is consolidated and takes on a central role in management

“My coincidences as a liberal are going to be enormous with Milei. The issue is that we have to push this in a Congress where the consensus is not necessarily so liberal,” Espert said in statements to Side P, by Radio Rivadavia.

In that sense, he confirmed that in this particular context it would have been wise to depart from the tradition that establishes that the winning political force is the one that places the highest authorities in both chambers.

Espert clarified: “I preferred that Deputies be chaired by Ritondo”

“What I have said is that in such a particular election – given that there is a president who wins with the need to build so much political muscle because he wins without mayors, without governors, with few deputies and few senators – that the minority that in the Chamber of Deputies might guarantee the smooth processing of its projects regardless of the one presiding over the chamber. I preferred that the Chamber be chaired by Together for Change and in particular Cristian Ritondo“he explained.

What awaits Javier Milei

Although he clarified that this does not mean that “because Together for Change has not come out like this, Milei will not be turned around, in any way.”

“In my particular case, no. And I don’t think that Together for Change does the same. The idea is to help the president to get things on track. Together for Change is very clear that people are having a very bad time and we must to think regarding the changes that Argentina should have started making too long ago and for not doing so, we are where we are,” he said.

Espert reaffirmed that Milei will have all his support from Congress and “surely with that of a large part of Together for Change.”
