Rail Strike December 2023: Updates, Impacts, and Alternative Transportation Options

2023-12-03 19:11:34

The 48-hour rail strike, scheduled from Tuesday December 5, 2023 at 10:00 p.m. to Thursday December 7, 2023 at 10 p.m. is maintained, announces the CGSP Cheminots in a press release this Sunday evening. “Despite the strong signal sent during the strike of November 7 and 8, management continues to ignore the voice of the railway workers“, regrets the union. At the end of November, the SFLP Cheminots announced that it would participate in the movement.

On the other hand, the third union, the CSC Transcom, rejected the call for a strike, denouncing an action “totally irresponsible and unacceptable towards travelers“.

Due to the strike, an alternative train service will be in place from December 5 at 10 p.m. to Thursday December 7 inclusive. At the end of October, the unions announced four days of strike on the rail in November and December to denounce a lack of respect for social consultation in the context of internal reorganizations.

The unions demand the suspension of the increase in productivity “to the detriment of railway workers“, the end of reorganizations”disconnected from reality on the ground and without added value on the operational level“, the interruption of the employment contractualization policy and the carrying out of statutory recruitment.
