An eternal discussion on the internet, the consumption of products purchased and made available online has always resulted in conflict between those who defend the view that physical media provides guarantees for its buyers while others, that digital consumption facilitates and requires less effort with storage and reading.
However, a decision officially revealed by Sony recently might add even more fuel to the fire of the fight between these groups, thanks to the decision to remove hundreds of videos from TV Discovery that were purchased by users around the world.
According to the notification sent by email to users, the content purchased as part of the agreement in question will be removed from the video library on the PlayStation Store, without any indication that there is the possibility of downloading these purchases (remembering that currently, there is no there is officially available way of transferring to devices).
Along with this text mentioned below, Sony also sent a link to users with the list of productions that will be removed and, according to a quick check carried out by us at TudoCelular, we have a total of 1318 lines of titles (not to be confused with the number of productions , considering that a series can have more than one season and each one is considered an entry on the list).
Starting December 31, 2023, due to our content licensing agreements with content providers, you will no longer be able to watch any previously purchased Discovery content and the content will be removed from your video library.
We sincerely thank you for your continued support.
Thanks,
Loja PlayStation
No less important, the PlayStation Store has not made it clear at any time that it will refund the amounts paid at the time of purchasing the titles in question, which might lead to good discussions if the contract cancellation actually occurs at the end of the year.
So, what do you think of this PlayStation Store decision? Tell us in the comments!
