BRUSSELS.- NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg believes that Ukraine’s frontline position might worsen if the West does not increase arms supplies.

In his opinion, the kyiv regime is in a “critical situation” since the members of the Atlantic Alliance were unable to meet the growing demand for ammunition.

“We have to prepare for bad news,” the senior official declared this Sunday in an interview with the German television channel Das Erste. «Conflicts develop in stages. But we must support Ukraine in both bad and good times,” he emphasized.

Following the interviewer’s question regarding how the Ukrainian Armed Forces should act in such a delicate situation, the NATO Secretary General redirected the “adoption of these complex operational decisions to the Ukrainians and their military leaders.”

A failed counteroffensive

Meanwhile, the president of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, admitted that his fighters were unable to make significant progress in their failed counteroffensive. «We wanted faster results. From that perspective, unfortunately we did not achieve the desired results. And this is a fact,” he asserted.

In his words, the failure is partly attributed to Ukraine not obtaining all the weapons it needed from its allies. «There is not enough power to achieve the desired results faster. But this does not mean that we should give up, that we should give up,” she said. “We are confident in our actions,” he added.

On the other hand, Zelensky acknowledged that he fears that the Ukrainian conflict will be overshadowed by the hostilities unleashed between Israel and Hamas. As such, he commented that events in the Gaza Strip might jeopardize the flow of military aid to kyiv.
