Yesterday, UEFA carried out the draw for the Euro 2024 groups. But during this draw, pornographic sounds were heard in the room and by viewers. This prompted the governing body of Spanish football to open an investigation.

UEFA announced the opening of an investigation following the broadcast of obscene noises of a pornographic nature during the Euro 2024 draw yesterday Saturday. Those sounds were heard as Switzerland were drawn into Group A, alongside Scotland, Hungary and hosts Germany.

A similar incident had already occurred on the BBC during the build-up to January’s FA Cup match between Liverpool and Wolves.

Prankster YouTuber, Daniel Jarvis, claimed responsibility for this prank as well as the previous one. Live on X, formerly Twitter, he regularly rang his phone to trigger suggestive noises while the Euro draw was broadcast on the BBC, live from Hamburg, Germany. Speaking to viewers, Jarvis said: “Look, it was us, it was us. We put the phone in there, we made it ring, suggestive noises during the Euro 2024 draw.”

Asked regarding the incident, England manager Gareth Southgate mentioned that he vaguely heard the noises while sitting in the crowd. “I guess it was some kind of prank, but it was hard to really understand what it was,” he said.

The UEFA investigation will perhaps make it possible to identify responsibility for this sordid affair.
