Islamabad: The Tehreek-e-Insaf Party (PTI) has elected a new leader ahead of the general elections in Pakistan. Gohar Ali Khan was elected as the chairman of PTI. Elections will be held in Pakistan on February 8.

After Imran Khan was jailed, a new leader was chosen to lead the PTI. At present, more than 150 cases have been filed once morest Imran Khan. The main objective is to prevent Imran from contesting the next election. Gohar is one of Imran’s lawyers. Imran also nominated him as the new chairman.

Party sources informed that Gohar was elected unopposed. The appointment came following the Election Commission gave an ultimatum to hold organizational elections to retain the party’s election symbol ‘bat’. Election symbol is very important among Pakistani voters. Gohar Ali Khan announced that the party charge will be handed over to Imran Khan as soon as he is acquitted. He has appeared in many cases once morest Imran. 45-year-old Gohar is a newcomer in the political arena. Imran Khan has been in jail since his arrest on August 5 following being convicted in the Toshakhana case.
