It was around 2 a.m. on the night of Friday to Saturday when a terrible accident occurred on the N97, at the infamous Phare intersection. In circumstances to be determined, VW Polo came from the center of Morville and would have wanted to enter the Nationale when a Mercedes arrived. The collision was in any case very violent.
Help arrived in large numbers, coming from Philippeville and Yvoir, and traffic was completely closed on this axis. Unfortunately, there will be nothing left to do for the couple who were in the Polo, the emergency doctor had to declare their death on the spot.
In the back of the car were the couple’s two children: a 6-year-old boy and a 13-year-old teenage girl. The boy will be conditioned for a long time on site by emergency doctors before being taken, in a condition considered very critical, to the Marie Curie hospital in Charleroi. The tallest, slightly injured but very shocked, will be taken to CHD. In the second car, the driver, a Rosée resident, was not injured but also very shocked; he will be taken to a hospital.
Faced with the seriousness of the facts, the police officers from the Flowal and Haute-Meuse zone notified the Public Prosecutor’s Office and an automobile expert came to the scene to try to establish the circumstances of this dramatic accident. Around 6:30 a.m., once the firefighters had finished cleaning the roadway and the road authority had salted the surface, traffic was restored.
A very popular couple
The couple was well known in the region. Both worked at the Intermarché d’Anthée, and as a result met a lot of people over the course of their careers. The atmosphere was sad this Saturday at the store, the staff and even several customers might not hide their emotion and their reddened eyes.
Jérôme Lefevre lived in Onhaye and still worked at Intermarché. His partner, Lindsay Dautrive, had also worked there but, for several months, she had been working elsewhere. She was the mother of the 6-year-old boy and he was the father of the 13-year-old girl. Together, they made a nice little family. Saturday noon, the boy’s state of health was most worrying.
