Delegates to the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) signed a historic declaration on Friday calling on countries to work together on agriculture, food and climate action.
DUBAI, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) — Delegates to the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on Friday signed a historic declaration calling on countries to work together on agriculture, food and climate action.
The “COP28 UAE Declaration on Sustainable Agriculture, Resilient Food Systems and Climate Action” was announced at a special session of the Global Climate Action Summit, which is being held during COP28 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The declaration addresses both global emissions and protecting the lives and livelihoods of farmers on the frontlines of climate change.
Adopting the declaration will strengthen food systems, build resilience to climate change, reduce global emissions and contribute to the global fight once morest hunger, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The declaration highlights the need for joint action on climate change, which negatively affects a large part of the world’s population, particularly those living in vulnerable countries and communities. END
