What are the main advantages of the Longines Legend Diver 39 mm?
The history of Longines in the world of civilian diving watches dates back to 1958 with the Nautilus Skin Diver ref. 6921-1 and in 1959 with the launch of the reference 7042 equipped with an internal rotating bezel and two crowns.
In 2007, Longines will offer enthusiasts a contemporary reissue under the name Legend Diver which will take on the nickname LLD among collectors.
It was a success, with Longines offering different variations of its diver over the following years.
If the Swatch Group brand has limited itself to models measuring 42 millimeters in diameter since its return in 2007, Longines is launching a Legend Diver measuring 36 millimeters in diameter in 2019.
However, those who found it too large at 42 millimeters, in particular because of its horn-to-corner distance, found the 36 millimeter diameter versions too small…
The Longines Legend Diver was therefore missing an intermediate size which this new version of 39 millimeters in diameter fills.
This new diameter is all the more pleasing as the horn-to-horn distance increases to 46.6 compared to the 52.5 millimeters of the 42 millimeter versions.

And this, while maintaining water resistance to a depth of 300 meters.

But above all, the Longines Legend Diver 39mm is now, and for the first time since the launch of the first LLD, certified ISO 6425, the standard defining diving watches.
Its nighttime readability is further optimized by dual-tint emission.
Longines uses a green-emitting Super-LumiNova for the baton indexes, the Arabic numeral indexes, the rotating bezel triangle as well as the hour hand.
The brand, however, uses a Super-LumiNova with blue emission for the minute hand, the arrow of the seconds hand and for each index which, in addition to its green luminescence, accommodates a dot or line with emission blue.
On the reverse, the Longines Legend Diver 39mm is closed with a solid screwed back decorated with a medallion depicting a new diver with harpoon in relief, this new back housing the caliber L888.
In a few words, it is a latest generation automatic movement which offers a very comfortable power reserve of 72 hours.
It is equipped with a silicon hairspring for increased resistance to magnetic fields in particular and to offer optimized precision.
As such, it benefits from a sort of super certification chronometer since this concerns the finished watch and not, as in 99.9% of cases, the movement alone.
