“Trailer 1, Tuesday, December 9, 9:00 a.m. Eastern time,” the studio simply published, in a minimalist message, which does not explicitly mention the game but presents a Florida sky in computer-generated images. The new opus of the series should in fact leave the city of Los Santos, a reconstitution of Los Angeles, scene of GTA V, to join the streets of Vice City, digital version of Miami, where the action of GTA: Vice already took place City, released in 2002.
So far little information has been released regarding the content of the game itself, with rumors however anticipating the arrival of a playable female character, a first in the series which has so far been rather vilified for the degrading image given to women.
Rockstar Games is known for completely controlling communication around the release of its games, never giving a release date in advance, contrary to what is generally done in the industry.
The studio regrets the piracy
The studio was, however, the victim of a hack at the end of 2022, more than 90 images and videos of the future GTA VI appearing on social networks, considered one of the biggest leaks in the history of video games. “We are extremely disappointed that the details of our next game have been shared with you in this way,” the studio then declared on its Twitter account, reminding in passing: “we will present the game in due form when it is released. ready”.
Among the most famous franchises in the world of video games, GTA has never been free of controversy, due to its sulphurous aspect, a mixture of violence, sex and gangster life.
Previous episodes led the player to embody a member of the Italian mafia in New York (or Liberty City), follow in the footsteps of Scarface hero Tony Montana in Miami, already, (Vice City) or slip into the shoes of a former gang member from Los Angeles (Los Santos).
Beyond the issue of violence, the series has been heavily criticized for its particularly misogynistic representations of women and caricatures of minorities, not to mention the scenes of torture.
