The interurban transport businessmen of the province grouped in the Business Federation of Automotive Passenger Transport (FETAP) announced that it offered “workers a salary increase of 18% for the month of November and another 18% for the month of December of the current year.”
The result of the union assembly is awaited where it is decided whether they will continue with the announced force averages or that tomorrow, the 20 thousand users in the province will be able to use public transportation to get around.
In the statement released by FETAP, they assure that both the companies and the employees grouped in the Automotive Transport Industry Workers Association (AOITA) consider that “The situation of the business sector is in a ‘critical’ state due to the delay in the adjustment of the tariff schedules, which causes a financial and economic imbalance in companies.which prevents us from covering the demands for salary improvements proposed by employees, which, although legitimate, do not correspond to the reality of the sector.”
Now it remains to define the union’s response regarding the measure of force proposed for Friday. In statements to La Voz, the head of Aoita, Emiliano Gramajo indicated that “they are waiting for a proposal to arrive that we can evaluate with the plenary of delegates, so as not to stop transportation. If we come to that, it is purely and exclusively the fault of the businessmen. “We want to work.”
Both employers and workers agree on the difficult financial moment that the activity is going through and, above all, that it is not immune to the lack of predictability in the face of new policies that allow the viability of the systems.
From the provincial Transportation Secretariat, still headed by the future national official Frango Mogetta, they indicated that “the strike announced by Aoita is within the framework of a salary negotiation between two private parties, between workers and their employers.”
