Environmental activist Wouter Mouton stuck his hand on the roadway on Thursday shortly before noon, not far from the offices of Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, located at 16 rue de la Loi, in Brussels.

The 46-year-old wanted through this action to draw attention to the opening of the COP28 climate conference. He wore a bib around his neck to symbolize, he said, the stupidity of politicians on climate issues.

The police and firefighters arrived on the scene to free the man following around twenty minutes. He was then arrested.

“Today begins flop 28, I mean COP28,” said Wouter Mouton. “Once once more, the chances are high that the tens of thousands of ministers and officials present will fail to provide an adequate response to the rapidly worsening ecological crises. We have been talking regarding the last chance COP for years and this one is no exception.”

Wouter Mouton is already known for having carried out numerous actions in favor of the climate during, among others, the Tour of Flanders and the final of the Belgian Football Cup, in 2022. He also stuck his skull on the painting “The young Girl with a Pearl Earring” by Vermeer in The Hague, Netherlands, or his right hand once morest a work in the Groeninge Museum in Bruges.
