Madrid, Nov 30 (EFE).- The national and regional Primary Care forums have expressed this Thursday their rejection of the hiring of family doctors without the specialty, considering that the impact of this measure “has a direct impact on the quality of care and means the disintegration of Family Medicine”.

After an extraordinary meeting, the Family Medicine societies, the Collegiate Medical Organization, the State Confederation of Medical Unions and the Spanish Society of Pediatrics, among other organizations, have published a statement in which they formalize this position in light of the decision. of Castilla y León to hire 235 doctors without the specialty of Family Medicine, especially for positions in rural areas, which are difficult to cover.

The meeting also insisted on pending issues such as the need for all doctors to be able to withdraw their patients (not just those from Primary Care) and for there to be a greater presence of the Family Medicine specialty in university studies.

The societies participating in the meeting have also explained the difficulties that organizations dedicated to Primary Care have in having sufficient legislative support.

At the meeting, in addition to the state societies, regional forums participated and agreed on the unanimous concern for this type of contracting and the need to organize for “the progress of an increasingly maligned specialty, which requires strong structural changes.” .EFE
