OnePlus continues to showcase the upcoming arrival of its OnePlus 12, this time boasting the impressive brightness of its screen, capable of outperforming the iPhone 15 Pro as well as the Galaxy S23 Ultra or the Xiaomi Redmi K70 in this area.

We told you regarding it at the end of October, it’s now official, the OnePlus 12 should have record brightness. Eager for teaser always a little more its next flagship, OnePlus has in fact confirmed that the device will benefit from a staggering maximum luminance, significantly greater than what the most optimistic rumors predicted just a few weeks ago.

According to the Chinese manufacturer, the OnePlus 12 would indeed be capable of reaching the threshold of 4500 cd/m² at peak brightness. As a reminder, some sources have so far mentioned a maximum of 2600 cd/m², or even 2500 cd/m². If the figure put forward by OnePlus is true – and we will clearly have to wait for the first independent tests to be sure – we would therefore be facing the brightest smartphone on the market.

Brightness: OnePlus might hit hard, very hard

As pointed out WCCFTech, most high-end smartphone manufacturers aim for a maximum luminance of between 1800 and 2200 cd/m² for their devices. For example, the iPhone 15 Pro manages to do better with a maximum peak brightness that can reach around 2500 cd/m², while its competitor the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra goes up to around 1750 cd/m². The OnePlus 12 screen would therefore have a clear advantage in this area… even if competition seems to be strengthening in China. Xiaomi, for example, has just announced its Redmi K70, capable, according to the brand, of reaching 4000 cd/m2.

For context, the screen of OnePlus’ next high-end smartphone would be none other than a 6.84-inch AMOLED panel, supplied by the Chinese BOE. However, we must keep in mind that the marketing statements of smartphone manufacturers are sometimes misleading, and that they rarely reflect the typical use of a mobile phone.

In this case, for example, it is sufficient for a group of pixels to be capable of maintaining a maximum brightness of 4500 cd/m² for a few seconds for the brand to have the right to highlight this value for promotional purposes. Clearly, we will indeed have to wait a little before knowing precisely what to expect in the context of real use of the OnePlus 12.
