As the temporary ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian armed faction Hamas continues for the sixth day, the two sides held their fifth hostage-detainee exchange yesterday (28th).
On this day, one day before the temporary ceasefire deadline, Hamas released 12 people, including 10 Israeli women and 2 Thais, who were being held captive.
Following this, Israel also released 30 Palestinians who were imprisoned in Ofer Prison in the Israeli-occupied area of the West Bank, which is controlled by the Palestinian Authority (PA), and in a detention center in Jerusalem.
This measure follows Israel’s previous offer to extend the ceasefire by one day if Hamas releases 10 hostages and to release three times as many Palestinian prisoners as the number of hostages released.
As a result, the number of hostages released from Hamas since the temporary ceasefire that began on the 24th increased to 81, and the number of prisoners released by Israel increased to 180.
Israel has revealed that Hamas kidnapped regarding 240 hostages last month.
Meanwhile, Israeli media reported today (29th) that Israel received a list of hostages to be released from Hamas today, citing the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office.
