There are many downsides to having to ride with three guards. This morning, my colleague Maxime Truman wrote a text which spoke of the famous menage a trois.
We know that this does not suit the players, the coaches… but also the management, who would undoubtedly like to resolve the problem more quickly than the current pace.
Throughout the NHL, everyone knows that the CH is in this situation, we understand.
But there is still an advantage to having three goalkeepers: the Canadian can limit difficult travel for his goalies when there are two games in two evenings in two different cities.
And these days, we clearly see how it works.
While Samuel Montembeault will automatically be for CH this evening in Columbus, we learn that Cayden Primeau will be the starting goalkeeper tomorrow evening in Montreal. Martin St-Louis confirmed the information from Martin McGuire and Dany Dubé: the American is on his way to Montreal.
❗️BREAKING NEWS | Cayden Primeau left the hotel in Columbus at 9:30 this morning. He will be the starting goalie once morest the Panthers tomorrow at the Bell Centre.

Result? Tonight, he’s going to sleep in his bed at a reasonable hour… and he’s going to avoid Columbus’ cannon. Instead of returning in the middle of the night with his teammates, he will have a good night’s sleep on the sidelines of tomorrow’s game once morest the Panthers.
It will still be a trap match for the Canadian, as we pointed out this morning on the site, but at least the goalkeeper will be in good conditions to try to win his match.
I like that: it’s good workforce management.
Taking advantage of the three guardians like this is an effective way to maximize the current situation. Primeau will have to respond once morest the big Panthers, of course, but he is equipped to do so.
Note that with the Montembeault/Primeau tandem expected to play two games in two evenings, this will be the third time in a row that the order Jake Allen – Samuel Montembeault – Cayden Primeau will be used.
If you have a $2 to put on who was Saturday’s goalie, put it on the guy from the Maritimes.
