LOS ANGELES (AP) — Taylor Swift is Spotify’s most streamed artist in 2023.
According to Spotify Wrapped, Swift was the most listened to artist in the world in 2023, with more than 26.1 billion listens since January 1, 2023. The pop superstar has dethroned the reggaeton star, the Puerto Rican Bad Bunny, who maintained that coveted title three years in a row: 2020, 2021 and 2022.
Bad Bunny was number two in 2023, followed by The Weeknd, Drake and regional Mexican musician Peso Pluma.
It’s not so bad news for Bad Bunny, whose 2022 album “Un Verano Sin Ti” was the most streamed album on Spotify for the second year in a row with 4.5 billion global listens. In that category, Taylor Swift’s “Midnights” was second and SZA’s “SOS” was third. All three albums came out last year.
The top five is completed with “Starboy” by The Weeknd, from 2016, and “Tomorrow will be nice”, by Karol G, the only one to appear in 2023 that reached the top.
“Flowers,” Miley Cyrus’s empowerment anthem, is the most streamed song of the year on Spotify with 1.6 million listens.
“Kill Bill” by SZA is the second most listened to song of the year, followed by “As It Was” by Harry Styles, “Seven” by Jung Kook with Latto’s and “She dances alone” by Eslabón Armado and Peso Pluma.
In the United States, Swift remains dominant: she was the most listened to artist on the platform, followed by Drake and country star Morgan Wallen. Wallen’s “Last Night” was the most listened to song, and her “One Thing at a Time” was the most listened to album.
