In this regard, the doctor Luciana Noguera, general and family physician, who provides functions in the Service, explained: “In General Medicine, we have a chronic disease clinic that works with patients diagnosed with diabetes, hypertension, among other chronic pathologies. The team is made up of general practitioners who attend in the morning and followingnoon, in addition to a nursing group, which carries out a circuit where the patient is admitted, weight and height control is carried out, the abdominal waist is measured, etc. That is, a complete evaluation is done. Subsequently, it goes to the medical check-up and a general follow-up is done.”
Regarding patients with prevalent diseases who attend the General Medicine Service, the professional indicated: “Many patients with diabetes and high blood pressure are treated, in addition, due to spontaneous demand, screening is performed to detect cervical cancer. In addition, health promotion and prevention activities are carried out through talks for the community, jointly with the General Medicine Residency.
We serve a large number of patients, added Dr. Noguera, between 15 and 20 patients per professional, paying special attention to people’s needs. People from high mountains who are referred attend, in coordination with other sectors of the Avellaneda Hospital and the Health System.
The idea, he highlighted, is that patients first go to the General Medicine office, where they will be guided and if necessary, the appropriate referral will be made to the corresponding specialist. Finally, the professional assured that it is very easy to get appointments, there is no need to come very far in advance, you can get an appointment on the day, since the service works in the morning and followingnoon.
