Pope Francis met with a delegation of abused children from the diocese of Nantes, France, at the Santa Marta House in the Vatican. A few members from the Congregation of the Montfort Brothers in San Gabriel and a few members from the Commission for Recognition and Reparation of the French diocese visited the Pope with this delegation.
Prior to the meeting, the group met with the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors for regarding two hours, during which the Pope’s message was read and delivered.

The Pope referred to the painful experiences of evil that these individuals had experienced in their lives, and recalled the task of the commission to listen to their pain and communicate it to him.
The Pope shared the good hope that these testimonies will help to strengthen and inspire a common commitment to eliminate abuse from the Church and society, and thus to overcome the silent situations of abuse with collective power.
The Pope also shared the fact that the courage and resistance of the victims caught his attention. The Pope concluded his message by pointing out the commitment to security and human formation that must be present at the various levels of the Church.
