SACRAMENTO (AP) — Malik Monk scored with 7 seconds left and the Sacramento Kings came back to defeat the Golden State Warriors 124-123 on Tuesday and advance to the quarterfinals of the In-Season tournament.
The Kings won their group 4-0 and will host New Orleans next week in the quarterfinals. Sacramento needed to win or lose by 11 points or less, but ended up with a win thanks to a fierce fast break fueled by two Warriors turnovers.
Andrew Wiggins left the visitors up five with 59 seconds left. But De’Aaron Fox fouled out and Monk hit a 3-pointer following Stephen Curry fumbled.
Draymond Green fumbled on the next possession, setting the stage for Monk’s decisive basket. The Warriors had no timeouts left and Curry missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer in Sacramento’s first win in three tries once morest Golden State this season.
Fox led his team with 29 points, while Monk and Kevin Huerter added 21 each.
Curry and Wiggins each contributed 29 for the Warriors, who have lost eight of 10 games.
