According to a press release, festival founder and director Zeno Stanek was able to recruit very different ensembles to create a “scrambling” sound sphere around the Herrensee. “The festival doesn’t freeze, but breaks up. Just as the Viennese song is constantly evolving, the festival does not stand still either. “That’s why in 2024 we’re working with new, young groups that have emerged from the Viennese milieu and are putting them on the many stages of the festival together with the old warhorses of the Viennese song scene,” Stanek announced.
New groups and old warhorses in Litschau
The first weekend (July 5th to 7th) offers an arc of excitement from the two Viennese dialect rappers Kreiml & Samurai to the well-known 16er Buam. Heinz Ditsch is also in focus, with compositions “Ausm Ladl” and the legendary trio Kollegium Kalksburg (at the top in the picture) – together with Belle fin. For the first time, the night concert on Saturday at 11 p.m. will be combined with a film screening: Viennese brood around singer and violinist Katharina Hohenberger will accompany live the silent film “The Green Cockatoo,” made by her grandfather Franz Hohenberger in 1932, together with Sascha Peres on the piano.
