The second edition of the Federal Bank Kochi Marathon, organized under the auspices of ClioSports to improve public health and fitness, will be held on February 11, 2024. Federal Bank Kochi Marathon is organized with the long term objective of making Kochi a sports tourism hub and Clean, Green and Safe Kochi.
The Federal Bank Kochi Marathon will be held in five categories namely 42.195 km marathon, 21.097 km half marathon, 10 km run, 3 km green run and special category for physically challenged and differently abled. Participants in marathon, half marathon and 10 km run must have experience of running in any recent marathon. The green run, which is a fun run, is expected to involve people from various walks of life like schools, colleges, housing societies, women’s organizations, corporate employees, voluntary organizations and others. Participants in the Green Run can submit messages that incorporate the theme Clean, Green and Safe Kerala. There are also prizes for the best entries. The prize money was increased from ten lakhs to fifteen lakhs.
This time, the Federal Bank Kochi Marathon has also included a special section for the physically challenged and differently abled. This race is organized in collaboration with Raksha Society, a voluntary organization working to solve the problems of children and youth with neuro-related disabilities. Federal Bank, one of the leading banks in India, is the title sponsor of the marathon. The marathon will pass through the scenic routes of Kochi. Athletics Federation of India Senior Vice President Padma Shri Anju Bobby George, Hibi Eden MP, Federal Bank Chief Marketing Officer MVS Murthy, Senior Vice President & Zonal Head Kuriakos Konil, Vice Presidents A. Ajith Kumar, G Suresh Kumar, Senior Officers Soni Rachel Oommen, G Karthik, Anoop Harindran, Medical Director Dr. Johnson K. Varghese, Cleo Sports owners Baiju Paul, Anish Paul, Sabari Nair, MRK Jayaram, Vipin Nambiar, Joseph, Raksha Society Secretary Anila Nainan, Crowne Plaza GM Dinesh Rai and others were present.
Organizers CleoSports are mobilizing people from various walks of life like big brands, state government, voluntary organizations, Kerala Police, students, runners to make the marathon a huge success. Hibi Eden expressed hope that Federal Bank Kochi Marathon will be able to show the beauty of Kochi to the world. Anju Bobby George said that the Kochi Marathon will make a big difference in the country’s income, which will strengthen the sports and tourism sector in Kerala.
Federal Bank Chief Marketing Officer M. V. S. said that following the success of the first edition of the Federal Bank Kochi Marathon, which was organized with a very short planning time, we are very proud to collaborate with the second edition. Murthy said. He also hoped that the second edition would be able to achieve the specific objective of the marathon.
Anish Paul, Sabari Nair and Baiju Paul, CleoSports officials said that they are very proud to be able to organize the second edition of Kochi’s own marathon. They stated that they will work together with GCDA to promote Kochi as a sports tourism destination.
