Philippine is at the wine estate with Victor Brunet. She takes a look at her account books and does not hide her concern regarding the financial situation of the farm. Victor explains to him that soil pollution has had a negative impact on sales and emphasizes that it is only temporary. Philippine believes that radical measures will have to be taken if Victor wants to avoid filing for bankruptcy. Furthermore, she noticed that a sum of money was coming back every month. A little uncomfortable, Victor confides to him that he injects part of his personal funds every month to keep the company afloat. He diversified his investments and took advantage of the fact that his son was abroad to rent his house, which gave him additional income. In the meantime, he is staying at the estate. Victor then confides to Philippine that the poisoning cost the life of Florence, the former manager of the estate. He refuses that it was for nothing. Philippine didn’t imagine him to be so sentimental. She borrows Victor’s account books. She is already thinking of ways to optimize her business.
Philippine returns to the estate later. She has made a decision and she is ready to become a 50% shareholder but Victor wants to remain in the majority. Philippine emphasizes that if he refuses his offer, he will face bankruptcy. Right at the same time, Victor receives a call from Timothée. He is back in Sète and wanted to surprise his father. Only, he is in front of their house. Timothée thinks that squatters have settled inside. Victor clears up the misunderstanding and explains to his son that he rents the house.
John, Bastien’s father, is suspected of murder
John spent the night at Bastien’s bedside. He mightn’t bring himself to leave him alone following what they had just learned. When Bastien wakes up, he explains to his father that he did some research last night on leukemia. John understands that his son is afraid and advises him to listen to Benjamin rather than what is written on the internet. Bastien points out that Benjamin is just a pediatrician. Right at the same moment, the latter enters the room. Benjamin explains to Bastien that he is going to follow up and that an oncologist will take care of his protocol. Benjamin then suggests that the teenager start chemotherapy the next day. He then explains to her that they are going to combine it with a bone marrow transplant to give themselves every chance of success.
Not far from there, Aurore and Karim are dispatched to a crime scene. Mr Flament’s lifeless body was found by his housekeeper. Mrs. Pereira explains to Aurore that she has been working for him for 20 years. She describes her former boss as someone discreet and uneventful. He didn’t receive any visitors when she was there apart from a gentleman who came by from time to time to do some odd jobs. The cleaning lady doesn’t know his name, she’s barely met him. Mrs. Pereira just knows that he is a biker, he left his helmet at the entrance. According to initial findings, nothing was stolen. However, the murder weapon, a pipe wrench, was found under a piece of furniture in the garage not far from the victim. She is stained with blood. The murder of the victim took place between 4 and 6 a.m. And as they did not find any signs of a break-in, Aurore and Karim concluded that Flament knew her murderer.
Not far from there, Philippine drops Violette off at high school. The teenager confides to him that she is worried regarding Bastien. She hasn’t heard from him since the day before and she fears that he will exclude her from his life because she asked him if his father hit him. The teenager then blames herself for getting involved in what was none of her business. Philippine assures Violette that she did the right thing to ask her this kind of question and says she is proud of her. She thinks Bastien will eventually understand that she just wanted to help him. At the same time, Violette receives a message from his classmate in which he writes that he doesn’t want to see anyone.
At the hospital, Victoire meets Benjamin in the rest room. She is delighted that he has returned even if his return is only temporary. Benjamin wishes he might say the same thing. He confides to Victoire that he is taking care of a 16-year-old teenager who has acute leukemia and who is the son of a good friend of his. He then explains to her that life has not spared them. John raises Bastien alone. Benjamin doesn’t know what happened with the teenager’s mother, but obviously, it seems a painful subject. They never talk regarding it. Victoire wants to be reassuring regarding Bastien’s chances of remission. But Benjamin thinks above all regarding the protocol and what results from it. He hopes John is a match for bone marrow transplant.
At the police station, the investigation into Flament’s murder accelerates. Ms. Peireira, the cleaning lady, identifies in a photo the person who came to do work for her former boss. This is John Kovac and the prints on the pipe wrench are his. Bastien’s father is known to the police. He was incarcerated for vehicle trafficking and theft. He served a prison sentence in the early 2000s. Aurore went through Kovac’s accounts and discovered that John went into debt to open his garage. He increased his debt by buying a house in Flament. But John is neither at the garage nor at home. His phone just died at the hospital. Aurore goes there to question him. John is talking to Benjamin. Aurore asks him to follow him to the police station, but John manages to escape on a motorbike.
