The Spanish city of Toledo is hosting the 47th edition of the “European Conference of Solidarity and Support for the Sahrawi People (EUCOCO)”, on December 1 and 2. A session which will be preceded by a meeting of Spanish parliamentary groups supporting the Polisario, announced its representative in Spain.

“The meeting will be an opportunity to evaluate the parliamentary work linked to the decolonization process of Western Sahara and to establish a coordinated line of action for next year,” said Abdellah Arabi. On October 9, the Front’s representative in Spain and three members of the far-left coalition Sumar, deputies Tesh Sidi, Enrique Santiago and Carlos Martín, but also MEP Manu Pineda of Izquierda Unida, signed “the Sahrawi agenda.

In 2022, the Polisario managed to mobilize the majority of parliamentary groups, including in the Senate, to condemn Pedro Sanchez’s support for the Moroccan autonomy plan in Western Sahara. However, this membership took a hit during the negotiations of the government pacts that Sanchez concluded, in October and November, with political groups considered pro-Polisario, to ensure his re-election as Prime Minister.

For its part, Algeria promised the Polisario to reactivate the “international parliamentary network of support for the self-determination of Western Sahara”. A promise made, Monday, November 13, by the President of the House of Representatives, Brahim Boughali, to the President of the Polisario “Parliament”, Hamma Salama.
