Medicine and Specialty students receive their academic degree in a solemn ceremony.

“The complexity of medicine is that of a science that is constantly renewed, because it constantly discovers new things and constantly rejects outdated ideas,” stated Doctor Riccardo Colasanti, Dean of Human and Social Sciences when addressing students of medicine and specialties in the framework of the Degree Ceremony.

During the last Lecture, the Dean made reference to the father of medicine, Hippocrates, citing that the Art of medicine is long, but that life is short, that opportunity is fleeting, that experiment is dangerous and that judgment is difficult, hence UPAEP focuses on preparing its students for continuous challenges and discoveries.

He urged today’s graduates that their virtue be humility; that given the magnitude of clinical problems, we cultivate a pure perspective and constant learning. “You cannot be great doctors if you are not humble in the face of the magnitude of clinical problems. Humility is not self-contempt, but rather a pure look at life, regarding which we know little and of which too much is demanded of us doctors.”

Colasanti also emphasized that given the University’s imprint of training leaders who transform society, graduates must be the most prepared and the most studious, because the lives of the people they must care for depend on it since they put their trust in their hands.

During his message, Dr. Emilio José Baños Ardavín, UPAEP Rector, highlighted the imprint of the UPAEP Eagles, which asks to be aware of all the legacy received and lived to give it meaning; “that the transformative leadership that UPAEP proposes is to give a sense of projection and transformation in the lives that you are going to touch, in the communities in which you are going to be present, in all those challenges that will surely be in your hands sooner rather than later.” ; that logic of the gift where everything you have received is evaluated and you put it into action, to give yourself, to transform yourself, to transform others.”

He said that from now on UPAEP becomes their Alma Mater, that university imprint that will accompany them for life, “that is why we are extremely proud to deliver this generation of professionals in a discipline as special, as noble as medicine is.”

For his part, Juan Pablo Rodríguez Merchant, medical student, reminded attendees of the value of choice and daily effort. “You should feel proud and lucky for this achievement in your lives, since as you can see when you make an effort, dedicate your time and give your heart to everything you do, it will always bear fruit in the future.”

He pointed out that today in a world of constant change, uncertainty is something latent in the future, but sooner or later these situations will be resolved as long as they continue doing things with the values that this university has taught them.

“I know and trust that each of you are destined for success in all areas of your life, so we must move forward with what is coming, not lower our heads at any time and enjoy all the moments that we have left to live.” ”.
