The French sporting goods retailer Decathlon is taking over the German online specialist retailer Bergfreunde. The purchase agreement concluded last Friday is still subject to official approval, Decathlon announced on Monday in Lille.
The retailer Bergfreunde, which specializes in mountain sports, climbing and outdoor equipment, was founded in Germany in 2006 and is present in eleven European countries. Decathlon operates over 1,700 stores in more than 70 countries.
