Baldur’s Gate 3 players are used to the romance aspect of the game. However, sometimes the romances can be questionable, with companions having very bizarre choices that make the game feel strange at times.

Romance is one of the most essential aspects of Baldur’s Gate 3. Every companion in the game has a romance option and things can get pretty deep if you want them to. The companions themselves have unique personalities and have their own tastes

These personalities reflect the inner demands and ideologies of the companions. Players feel that these ideologies are sometimes questionable, as companion preferences are often quite inconvenient.

Baldur’s Gate 3 players wonder regarding the game’s strange romances

The romance discussion was started by a Reddit user named u/goddess-reaka. The player mentioned, “ Reluctantly beating up Lae’zel in front of everyone in the camp » before adding “ Lae’zel: Now say you’re mine and kiss my bloody mouth ».

The player also commented that following this scene with Lae’zel, Shadowheart says: ” I can’t help but be jealous of what you and Lae’zel share “. The Reddit user thinks this type of romantic ideology is very problematic, but it seems the game is full of it.

Other players joined the discussion to provide their input. One player commented, “ Did you see Shadowheart’s reaction to getting Loviatar’s love buff by getting whipped into the goblin camp? Shadowheart likes this stuff ».

Another player added, “ The reason you don’t see his “twisted” side if you don’t unlock these optional scenes is because, canonically, it’s just not part of his character. “. One player also claimed, “ I took Lae’zel, Astarion and Shadowheart with me for the flogging (which I did naked because it’s funny). All three now want to jump on me ».

Finally, one player mentioned, “ She’s a naughty girl, but I love that she’s also super sweet, loving and devoted (at least on the way to Selûnite) ».

So it seems that most players have encountered some weird romance options in the game. However, they also seem to enjoy it, as this weirdness adds more depth and spice to the characters as well as the story of Baldur’s Gate 3.
