The Rionegrina Pharmaceutical Producer Sociedad del Estado (Profarse) is in the final process for the delivery of the last batch of 4,000 doses of Misoprostol 200 milligrams to the Ministry of Health of the province and in this way it will complete some 50,000 doses produced since 2021 to guarantee the drug used by health personnel for the termination of pregnancy.

The production of Misoprostol Profarse is 200 milligrams in vaginal tablets that are available in a blister of 6 units.. According to the pharmacological description, it is a “uterotonic and cervical ripening agent, synthetic analogue of prostaglandin E1 (PGE1)”.
“The production of Misoprostol is established as a public policy, we had 2 years of work developing the formulation and stability checking before releasing it“, explained Livigni, who highlighted that “the laboratory is at the disposal of the public policies of the province.”
For now, the production of Misoprostol is only limited to the internal demand of the province. It does not have authorization from Anmat to leave the jurisdiction and the laboratory does not plan to reach the private sector with its medications in the short term.
