Against the fog of war, we must oppose the clarity and promises of the economy and social development. In the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, two just causes clash. The right of Israelis to live in their country, in complete peace, and that of Palestinians to emerge from instability, to finally exist within stable and recognized borders in order to lead a common future. The paths of reason are narrow as events push towards conflict rather than appeasement. Permanent war, however, has no future.
Neither Israel nor Palestine are in danger of peace. It is indeed war that threatens them. To emerge from such a long conflict, it is first necessary to identify the obstacles, mobilize trusted third parties acceptable to both parties and a planned crisis exit model. Is there any other lasting option than that of the two States, short of accepting the idea of a massive evacuation of several million Palestinians to who knows where, at the risk of destabilizing the entire region?
