The Minister explained that the Ministry of Supply is the body responsible for providing the strategic reserve of goods and food supplies, and that for the first time in the history of the Ministry of Supply, the Ministry has become not only responsible for providing sugar for ration cards, but rather has become burdened with the burden of providing it to the industrial and commercial sectors, which is what the Stock Exchange is doing. He revealed that the needs of the pharmaceutical sector and the Unified Purchasing Authority for sugar will be fully met, and that sugar has been provided to companies at a price of 24 pounds per kilo through the commodity exchange.

He pointed out that the Ministry is offering sugar at a price of 24 thousand pounds per ton, provided that it is offered in outlets at a price of 27 thousand pounds per ton, which is equivalent to 27 pounds per kilo in the commercial chains that work with the Ministry in addition to the consumer complexes and established containers. He explained that offering sugar at a price of 27 pounds led to an increase in sugar. Pressure and Demand Therefore, we issued instructions yesterday that shops and factories that depend on sugar be given a share through localities and governors through direct delivery instead of deducting from the citizen’s share.

He stressed that the Ministry was keen to ensure the sustainability of supplies to the citizen and to the shops that rely on sugar in the industry, but there are some remote areas and they will be reached through outlets and staffs.
