Actor Paul Rudd has shared details regarding the strict diet and exercise regimen he followed to prepare for his role in the Ant-Man films. During his appearance on a recent episode of the Off Menu podcast, Rudd, 54, described his eating plan as so “restrictive” that sparkling water became a kind of dessert. “That diet was horrible,” the actor commented, even joking regarding his preference for Italian mineral water Pellegrino due to its “softer carbonation.” Rudd even admitted that he had a much more intense diet and exercise routine than the rest of his companions in The Avengers, and yet, he considered that he did not have as extraordinary a physique as them.

“I think I exercised more than everyone, ate better than everyone, and looked worse than all of them. He had to exercise all the time, eat perfectly, just to look bad,” the actor shared in an interview.

Rudd highlighted among the entire cast Chris Hemsworth, who since he appeared on the big screen as the Norse God Thor, has attracted attention for his extraordinary physique. Paul recalled that, in addition to an intense routine, Chris’s diet was also very demanding, and seeing the results he had, he mightn’t help but feel a certain level of envy for not achieving the same results.

“I remember in Endgame, Chris Hemsworth had these Tupperware containers and he was eating this porridge made just from a puree of stuff. And he was exercising. When you were next to a guy like that, I was like, ‘What’s the point of any of this stuff?’ This? Why am I killing myself when that can exist? I’ll never be able to achieve that.’ Ant-Man is not Thor. But I tried to work out like Thor and it didn’t work.”

Although Rudd’s diet started out as a real challenge, little by little he managed to adapt to his new eating regimen, and he confessed that it had many benefits despite eating very lightly.

“Once you’re into it, it’s actually not too difficult. And I think you can guess that I don’t mind eating very boring food over and over once more. You get into the rhythm (…) You feel good: waking up with tons of energy is the strangest feeling. “That was new to me.”

Despite not having the most defined abs in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Rudd was chosen as the Sexiest Man by PEOPLE magazine in 2021, and a year later, he passed the crown to Chris Evans, his partner in Avengers. Paul wanted to pass on some advice to Evans to handle the appointment in the best way possible, but apparently Captain America’s busy schedule has made it impossible to contact him.

Chris Evans did not respond to Paul Rudd’s messages following handing him the baton as People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive

“I said, ‘Look, here’s the deal, Chris. This carries a lot of responsibility.’ ‘If you want to sit down and maybe have something like that, we probably need to get through the day, it will take hours, because there are a lot of things you have to accomplish and a lot is expected of you. And if you want to have a real strategy session or what it has been like and what is required, I am available.” And I gave him a series of days. Yes, he has never responded to a single text message. [Pero está] absolutely busy. He is the sexiest man alive. There are no days off for that.”

Evans stopped being the Sexiest Man Alive on November 8, when People revealed that Patrick Dempsey was chosen to continue the tradition. Regarding the appointment, the actor who played Dr. Dereck Shepherd in the series Grey’s Anatomy for several years, stated the following:

“I’m glad it’s happening at this time in my life. “It’s nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego takes a little hit, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive.”

At 57, Patrick Dempsey, famous for his role as Dr. Derek Shepherd on “Grey’s Anatomy,” was named “the sexiest man alive” by People magazine.
