The body found Friday in the Dender is indeed that of VG, the suspect in the double homicide committed in Denderhoutem, the East Flanders prosecutor’s office said on Sunday.

The two victims, a 54-year-old woman and her 22-year-old son, were found on Saturday November 11 in a home in Denderhoutem. The 51-year-old suspect, husband of the woman and father-in-law of her son, was suspected of having committed an act of desperation; his car had also been found near the Dender in Aalst and witnesses had saw a person jumping into the water.

Double homicide in Denderhoutem: nearly 500 people attend the funeral of a mother and her son

Several search operations have been carried out, including one last week, near the Werfplein and the Tereos factory in Aalst, interrupted by the force of the current fed by intense precipitation.

A body was found on Friday near Quai Pierre Cornelis. The autopsy carried out on Sunday morning on the body in question proved that it was the suspect. The case is therefore now closed.
