The game describes the horrors of the 1932-1933 Holodomor in Ukraine through the eyes of a 10-year-old girl, Stellarium.gaming studio writes on Facebook.
The developers explained that the 2D game has a unique drawing style and tries to tell the tragedy of the Holodomor to a wide audience.
The game is set in a “lifeless” village in the Kharkiv region. The protagonists of the game are “two orphaned souls”.
“This is a story of hunger, despair, pain and hope, regarding the realities of the Holodomor in Ukraine in 1932-33 through the eyes of little Olena and her stork. They are two orphaned souls who set out in search of life and lost family,” the studio said.
The player must help Olena and the stork in their quest to find their family.
The developers say that users will have the chance to immerse themselves in the protagonist’s perspective and see the circumstances of that time.
“Our goal is to portray the horror experienced by the Ukrainian people through the eyes of little Olenka [diminutiv la Olena]. To highlight the criminal actions of the Soviet government,” the studio added.
The Famine Way, a game available for computers and mobile phones, will be released in 2024.
