Review: ZEERA SUVOLT GEN4 charger with cooler for iPhone

In recent days, we have seen several warnings regarding the increase in average temperatures in Brazil and, just like us, our iPhones they can also feel hot — that’s when they don’t overheat, of course.

Among Apple consumers, reports always appear that it is not possible to use the iPhone — which even restricts it from being unlocked. Plus, following iOS 17 was released, recharging your device has never been the same.

As a regular user of CarPlay, I always use the iPhone connected via cable to the car, as my vehicle does not support the wireless feature. As a result, whenever I’m behind the wheel, my cell phone is recharging.

Although advantageous, as I end up not worrying regarding the battery, Apple does not allow you to disable the recharging option, causing the iPhone to always heat up — regardless of where you “hide” it (own experience). ????

With that in mind, the ZEERA developed an automotive accessory that seeks to solve all these problems: the SUVOLT GEN4. In an unprecedented way on the market, according to the company, the device recharges (via MagSafe) and cools the iPhone while used in the car.

Over the last few weeks, I was able to test the product at the invitation of ZEERA and, in this review, I will delve into the details of the accessory — from taking it out of the box to answering the question you (probably) are asking: “Is it worth it?”

Taking the product out of the box

My initial perception, upon opening the box, was to notice the care that ZEERA took with the details. Everything was organized and well presented. The charger attracts attention with its modern design and, next to it, we have a metal plate with a premium feel.

There is an Allen key for fine adjustments, showing that even these details were thought of by the company. The braided USB-C cable that comes with the charger is durable and ready to use. In the manual, the instructions were clear and detailed, but as long as you speak English or Chinese.

Assembly

The SUVOLT GEN4 assembly process also pleasantly surprised me, as it was simple. The metal mounting plate offered me a sturdy feel from the start, fitting securely and reliably.

The real advantage of the charger is its versatility. It comes with two options: mounting on the dashboard and mounting on the car’s air conditioning outlet. Still, opting for the former made me seem less stable.

A notable highlight of ZEERA’s product was the inclusion of an accessory, made especially for round-shaped air vents. With it, it is possible to fit the device to any type of fan.

Can you use it with a case?

Briefly: yes, it is possible to use an iPhone with a case on the SUVOLT GEN 4 — especially, of course, those compatible with MagSafe — but efficiency may vary.

Using thinner or MagSafe compatible cases, charging tends to be more efficient. However, thicker covers or those with materials that interfere with the magnetic connection may reduce charging efficiency.

Although ZEERA recommends the use of iPhones without a case, here I tried using the device with some compatible ones and was unable to observe any worsening in the wireless charging experience.

Recharge test

Charging speed is always a concern for users — whether in the car or not. In the SUVOLT GEN4 case, the experience was… acceptable. Testing it with different iPhones, I realized that charging just does its job. And that’s it.

Compared to other MagSafe chargers, the ZEERA device managed to maintain a consistent recharge rate, but still low for what competing devices can already offer.

Using adequate power, provided by a compatible power supply, the charger achieved a performance close to the maximum specified for Qi recharging (7.5W) — which is efficient, but not very agile.

This capability is especially valuable in urgent situations or times when the iPhone’s battery is low. For those who depend on their devices, having a good charger that offers recharging like this is a great benefit.

Cooling performance

The cooling in the SUVOLT GEN4 is, without a doubt, one of the charger’s most notable points — it was this difference, in fact, that made me accept ZEERA’s invitation. To be honest, integrated cooling is an innovation worth highlighting.

I tested the recharge in different weather conditions, as well as usage situations, and the cooling system demonstrated good performance. Even recharging the iPhone via MagSafe, especially during long journeys or when exposed to the sun, the product kept the smartphone’s temperature under control.

The cooling, intelligently incorporated, managed to significantly reduce the iPhone from overheating — one of the biggest problems I faced when recharging it via cable. Even in harsh conditions like high temperatures, the device remained cooler compared to other conventional options.

The presence of an internal fan, combined with the intelligent management of the heat generated by wireless charging, gave me a good experience. This not only protects the device from possible damage caused by overheating, but also maintains charging efficiency.

After all, is it worth it?

The SUVOLT GEN4 charger offers a good set of features, but the rating also largely depends on the user’s individual needs.

Its cooling capacity and versatility in different mountings are positive points. Still, some aspects, such as fixation on certain surfaces and charging speed, may vary according to the user’s preference.

If you value the cooling capacity to keep your device protected and operational at higher temperatures, the charger is certainly an excellent option. The mounting options, as stated, are another positive point, making it adaptable to a variety of vehicles and positioning preferences.

However, for those who prioritize stability when attaching the charger to any surface or seek an extremely fast charging rate, it may be necessary to consider other options on the market.

The SUVOLT GEN4 has two models: one with a USB-A to USB-C cable (20W) and the other with a USB-C braided nylon cable (100W). Available on the official ZEERA websitethey cost US$50 e US$60, respectively. What did you think?
